TRYING SOMETHING NEW ... We are holding the event at the Palm Desert Greens Country Club. There will be a cash bar and an optional buffet. Attendees are NOT required to purchase food or drink but since it is a Clubhouse, please do not bring your own food or drinks.
Santa has your back this year ... The Coachella Valley Geocachers are being charged $18 per person for the buffet which includes a non-alcoholic drink, tax and tip included. Donations to cover the expense will be accepted and appreciated! Since the economy has not recovered for everyone, and this event is very close to the Christmas holiday, any amount that you are able to donate is acceptable but not required. Most important is that YOU and your geocaching friends and family attend. As always ... anyone is welcome to attend without obligation ... and know that Santa has your back ... !!
Free WIFI at the location --- so feel free to bring your geocaching questions and internet equipment. It's an open meeting for ALL geocachers - locals - snowbirds - travelers - desert rats - sand crabs - visitors - new cachers - old timers - and we're even children friendly. No other special agenda other than a meet 'n greet for all geocachers and friends.
(Please read and pay attention) --- Bukibear and nevadanick have secured the PDG Country Club ballroom for this event. It IS a gated community where we live, so there are some rules that MUST be followed (but they are EZ-PZ):
1. Please log your 'will attend' as we have to give attendee names to the entry gate. ALSO ... E-mail bukibear or nevadanick with your real name and caching name so we can give a list to the gate. If you forgot to log a 'will attend' or if you find you have time at the last minute to attend the event... use the hint !!
2. There is a Dress Code. The ballroom is adjacent to the restaurant and lounge/bar. Any casual wear is acceptable, but please ... bathing suits, cut-offs, tank tops, sweatpants, 'racy' apparel and 'racy' t-shirts are not permitted. It IS 'casual', but please keep it reasonable. You are representing the geocaching community and we would like to be in a position to be invited back !!
3. Speed Limit inside the complex is 25 MPH. It IS radar enforced. Use caution when driving the complex, there are always golf carts using the roadway and there are golf cart crossings on and off the golf course. We also have dog walkers and snowbirds wandering the roadway. Please do not hit them ... they make terrible hood ornaments !!
4. Parking is available at the clubhouse. One small lot on the north side of the parking area is reserved for golf carts. Please do not try to fit your cachemobile in a golf cart parking space - (it will be tempting, but don't do it!). Use of designated 'handicap' parking is well marked and monitored by security. You must have an HC hanger or HC plate to use them.

Bukibear will be displaying her collection of over 1,000 trackable geocoins. She will take you through the steps of setting up a coin collection of your own and answer any questions you may have about geocoins and GC.com trackables. Here is your chance to 'discover' a ton of geocoins for your 'stats' profile page ... the real McCoys ... not just traveling proxies.
You can also view or purchase any of over 150 unactivated geocoins that will also be part of the display.

* * * * Optional TOY DRIVE Participation * * * *
There is a local agency (not the USMC) that conducts a Christmas Toy Drive for needy children in the Coachella Valley. They have provided a valuable service for several years and have a solid reputation in the Desert communities.
IF YOU MIGHT BE SO INCLINED ... bring a new unwrapped toy (any age except 'infant') to contribute to the cause. We will collect the toys and deliver them to the agency under the name of ALL COACHELLA VALLEY GEOCACHERS. Since GS requests that specific agencies NOT be mentioned or promoted in cache and event listings, if you need or want to ask, feel free to message Bukibear or nevadanick through the member profile page and we'll give you the details. Participating is NOT required and all geocachers are welcome to attend the event.
There will be no special considerations for those who contribute ... just the warm personal Holiday glow that comes with knowing that you helped make the Holidays a little bit better for some of our local kids.

Each year many of the residents of PDG Country Club participate in the community Festival of Lights. We are trying to arrange a short tour at the end of the M&G to guide cachers who want to join us for a drive through the complex to the award winning light and decoration displays.
