This is a beautiful, fun and relaxing Geocache but it will take some time although it is not very difficult to find. Tides and ferries are important for this site. The site is located on Little Chebeague Island in Casco Bay. It is reached by taking the Ferry to Chebeague Island from Yarmouth or Portland then walking or biking to Hook Rd (small dirt).
When the tide is right you will be able to cross the sandbar BY FOOT and find the cache. There are some good trails starting from the north and east sides. The sandbar is covered at tides greater than 4 ft so check with the Portland Herald (print version) for tide levels and times. Typically you have in excess of 3 hours. Tide rises at 2.5 ft per hour so be careful. The entire trip on the islands can take + 2 hours with 1 hour on the sandbar/Little Chebeague. The easy way is to use a boat but this is cheating you on the experience and it is also very shallow!

This island is a wonderful bit of Maine Island history; so, if you are able, spend some time looking at the historical markers. This is a great place for a picnic and swim. There are primitive restrooms and camping is allowed without permit on the East side beaches but there is no water There are pockets of blackberry and supposedly poison ivy You should not encounter any if you keep to the trails. There are some pleasant hiking trails. There are reports of TICKS typical of wild Maine. I recommend DEET on the socks and shoes as a precaution.
The Cache is a 6"x6"x2.5" lock’n’lock container.
