We planned this one so the people can go no matter what kind of shape they're in. We plan to pack in a short distance from the road (1-2 miles) and find a spot to camp.
From there, whomever is up for it will climb 3,600 ft. high, Kaaterskill High Peak (and maybe nearby Roundtop if we have time) while those who prefer to relax around camp may do so.
Just stay out of my hammock! There is also a very scenic overlook that is a short hike away from where we'll be camping. Those who stay behind can take a leisurely walk out there and spend the afternoon watching the hawks and vultures soar.
The posted coordinates are for the parking area at the trailhead. I used National Geographic Topo! to obtain them so they may not be exact, but should be pretty close.
If anybody needs to borrow equipment, I have extra sleeping bags, tents, packs, etc... Metaphor tells me that there are several virtual caches on Kaaterskill that we can bag while we're at it.
Meeting time between 9:30 & 10:00 at the posted coordinates.
If I remember, I'll bring a FRS radio and set it to the "official Geocaching channel", which is 2.
For those who are going up Friday night, there are some hotels and campgrounds in the area. I think there is a KOA nearby. The town of Woodstock isn't far. You can also camp anywhere on state land as long as it's 150 feet, or more from a road, trail or water (and below 3,000 feet).
If you can't make it for an overniter, feel free to accompany us to High Peak and possibly bag the two virtuals up there. I estimate we'll be departing for the peak around 11'ish.
I'll have my FRS on channel 2 so we can hook up if necessary.
