Geocache Description:

CONGRATULATIONS TO mtnbirders FOR THEIR FTF!

The cache is located on a promontory that overlooks County Road 580 as it traverses along the Huerfano River.  The nearby State Wildlife Area is a popular camping venue, so consider a camping/caching combination activity--but be certain to have valid licenses and wildlife stamps if you chose to camp in the SWA.  Alternatively, find this cache while en route or returning from a climb of the 14er Mt. Lindsay (14,042 feet), or one (or both) of the nearby Centennial 13ers [California Peak (13,849 feet)  and  Huerfano Peak (13,828 feet)].  Standard climbing routes on all three of these marvelous mountains are accessed via the road that passes near this cache.

From the cache vicinity look down on and listen to the water cascading and singing along its course adjacent to the roadway.  It's lovely as seen and heard from this location.  Close your eyes.  Listen to the music of the water as it tumbles over rocks.  It's a special place having a special set of sounds and sights that will fill your senses.  But don't get so distracted by these natural phenomena that you forget to find the cache and sign its special treasure, the log!

~Enjoy this place!~
