Mears Way Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Pioneer 'n' Tiff: Greetings geocachers.
Thank you for visiting our Tennessee geocache. Alas, the time has come to archive this cache. MILMarge has sold her home and is moving away, and we are left with no family in the area. With her move, she leaves behind the house that she and her husband shared until his death. The new owners, a retired police officer from Arizona, were told about the geocache and were interested in taking the sport up, so who knows, maybe they will revive the cache in honor of Robert Mears, a short term resident of Greenback who stayed for the rest of his life.

Thanks for your visit, and if you're in Australia or SoCal, look us up.

Geocache Description:

A geocache for our father and father in law upon his passing.

Robert Lee, born 23 December 1930 in Watson Missouri, died 29 March 2006 in Greenback Tennesse. Robert (Bob) spent most of his life in San Diego where he ran a sheet metal speciality shop. In 2004, he and his wife accompanied thier youngest daughter cross country for a 'Greenback' way of life. Upon finding just the right block of land, he built their house and put in their own road.
We flew out from San Diego and was stunned at the beauty of the area with the local wildlife. Birds and deer are frequent guests in the cache vicinity.
Cache's original contents include a San Diego geocoin, a travel bug, a fresh set of travel bug tags, a torch, log and pens.
This cache is located on PRIVATE PROPERTY and is placed with the permission of the owner, and maintained by land owner. There is no permisison granted to use the driveway. Ample parking is available on Sinking Creek Road, or at the nearby church.
