10 Years! Christleton, Chester, UK Community Celebration Event

This cache has been archived.

Sir PhilPamAndRob: Time to put this great event to bed (just in case anyone still hasn't logged their attendance, you can still do so after its archived!)

The hoodie top belongs to Cats & Co - we just need to know how to reunite iot with its owner!

4 TBs are still logged in the event. I think 3 are in the possession of The Washers as one it on their car, and the other two bears accompany them to events. The alst TB is my own and I passed it to someone on the night - I'm just trying to remember who!

Anyway, thanks for everyone who turned up - a brilliant evening, all all the bext to the next 10 years

PhilPamandRob

Geocache Description:

THIS WAS A LOST AND FOUND EVENT - WE FOUND A BLUE STRIPED CHILDS HOODIE TOP - AGED 4/5. WHO LOST IT? I'VE GOT IT AT HOME SO PLEASE E-MAIL ME IF IT IS YOURS (MOLD MONSTERS? CRIFT?) - A PHOTO IS UPLOADED BELOW

The special "10 Year Events" are celebrating the switching off of “Selective Availability” on 2nd May 2000, which had scrambled the signal meaning your GPS had an accuracy of 100m at best! The next day the very first Geocache was placed by Dave Ulmer, and geocaching had begun. As they say – “the rest is history!”

This event is being held at the Cheshire Cat, Christleton, just outside Chester on the A41. It’s where the Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales Cachers have had several very enjoyable events in the past. Unfortunately our normal hostess, Hazel, has another birthday party to attend, so I offered to host this event instead. The event starts at 6pm Sunday evening and will end as normal when the bar closes, but arrive and leave whenever you want during the evening. It’s a family orientated pub with a relaxed atmosphere, catering for all age ranges, and they have an excellent choice of meals for those that are hungry!

As this is a 10th birthday party, I’ll be supplying a cake. Can each team please bring a wrapped birthday present and we’ll put them altogether, and then draw so that everyone who brought a present, also receives one. I suggest a maximum value of £5, but ingenuity, appropriateness and imagination is far more important than its value.

If you plan to attend, please log a “will attend” and indicate how many people are in your group so I can confirm approximate numbers to the Cheshire Cat closer to the time. They are reserving the normal room for us (apparently it’s called the breakfast room), though we may be able to sit outside if the weather is good.

As well as informal caching chatter there will be the usual swapping of TBs & GCs. There are also a couple of local caches within walking distance, and we’ll be holding a raffle to help raise funds for the 2012 Mega-Event being held in the North West.
