The Time Machine Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The Time Machine

This container was first used as an underground atomic bomb shelter in the 1950's. Note the sign that says, 'Turn out lights'.

On May 2, 1960, it was used once as a California execution chamber.

In 1973, it was brought up to the surface and used as a bomb explosion chamber by law enforcement agencies.

In 1979, it was hauled to a large freighter ship and used as a giant washing machine. It was returned, very clean, in 1981.

From 1982 through 1993, Fred T. Plooper, previously a professional stamp collector turned local bum, as they referred to him in those days, made it his home.

But nobody really knew what it was, or where it came from, until now. I will tell you. You will be the first to know. It is a whirling Time Machine.

Approximately, 823 years ago, after traveling in the 47th dimension through the primordial ooze of over 30,047 planets, 2 universes, and 14,747 time frequencies, I crash landed on Earth. It just happened to be my 12,000th birthday. Upon crashing, I opened the chamber door, climbed to the top and tried to turn the winder, which is the bunt cake look-alike cylinder you see at the top. Hard as I tried, I could not wind it. End of story. I have been here ever since!

These coordinates are not the coordinates to The Time Machine cache. Instead, they are the coordinates to benchmark #JS1009, which you can go and collect a benchmark credit for if you wish.

TO GET THE COORDINATES TO THE TIME MACHINE: The only way to get to the Time Machine cache is to travel through time. What else would you expect? To follow the path of the Time Machine, you must enter the time logs of specific cache sites in www.geocaching.com starting with the first clue given below. Look for the words 'Time Machine Log' in the various cache logs. Each log will give you a clue or tell you where the Time Machine goes next. If you can't solve the clue, do what all time travelers do to get to their destinations..... cheat. You can cheat by reading the 'HYPERLINK' which will give you the exact answer to the clue. (We can't risk anyone being stuck in time just because they are a little dim.) Besides, some of the clues are just plain ridiculous. The Time Machine will make 8 stops taking you into the past and into the future. To get the coordinates of the actual Time Machine cache, string together the numbers on the Hyperlinks. TO GET THE COORDINATES OF THE ACTUAL TIME MACHINE CACHE, JUST STRING TOGETHER THE DIFFERENT NUMBERS YOU SEE NEXT TO THE WORD, 'HYPERLINK', but I repeat myself. So pack your bags and enter this fun and exciting adventure.

IMPORTANT: Make sure your will is up to date and bring a toothbrush.

DO NOT: Please do not put notes on other cache sites visited in relation to the Time Machine Cache. Put all notes and logs relating to The Time Machine cache on The Time Machine cache pages only. It is only appropriate to put logs or notes on other cache sites if you are actually going after those particular caches. The owners don't want logs or notes about someone else's cache sites, even if its for The Time Machine. I have talked to each owner and received permission to put a Time Travel Note on their site.

WARNING...DANGER! DANGER! Please do not try to pry open the door of the Time Machine. My private belongings are in there. It still has 37 to 47 thousand whirls in it. If it starts to bounce up and down and makes a wheezy sound, you can say good-bye to everything you know and I will probably be stuck on earth forever. The cache is not inside.

THE FIRST CLUE: Set your time machine dial to the year 2002 and go to the day Kimbo Returned and Jeo had to stand in a corner.

NOTE: This series of adventures and the paths of the Time Machine may change from time to time because so many people will be using the time machine to visit these logs and they may screw things up by playing with dials and controls they are not supposed to and because......well, you know....this is a time machine.....and they cause change.

ALIEN UPDATE: For more information about the Time Traveler, see the Travel Bug description for 47Dad47. (Hey!...What's going on here? That's my name!!!!)

HYPERLINK: Kimbo's Back has been archived. So you can find it by it's waypoint which is GCAEFA, or you can click on the following shortcut: Click Here For Shortcut to Kimbo's Back . Then Click on 'There are more logs. View them all on one page'. Go to very first log. Go up one and read the TIME MACHINE LOG.
