Cypress Mountain Drive is a long dirt road leading to the old town
of Adelaida. It's closed now to all but the locals who still live
in the area. Since the closing of the once very active quicksilver
mines in and around Adelaida, the town has, in a sense, also faded
away. Wineries are starting to sprout up where homes and farms once
stood. Access to these wineries and the actual town of Adelaida is
easiest out of Paso Robles. From 24th Street going west toward Lake
Nacimiento, look for the Adelaida turnoff.
Aside from that, while you are stopped here, check another great
"Photo Op" on the west side of Santa Rosa Creek road.
Oh, yea, by the way, it's a magnetic key case

December 22, 2009 by polarbody (100 found) We live just outside Toronto, Canada and flew into San Francisco to spend the Christmas holidays in California. On our way to visit family in Fresno, we decided to spend a couple of days in Paso Robles area. Great area for geocaching. TFTC!

August 17, 2009 by barnbetty (3 found) My first find as a member of Geocaching! I did this with a friend in Camarillo and was hooked. Since I live in the area, I was able to find this one without a GPS.

August 16, 2009 by gsbohr (315 found) Took a nice long loop up this road and back to the coast on 46. Cache is in good shape, although I'm not sure that matches are the best swag to leave in the CA hills this time of year... A young buck was watching us from under the big oak tree the whole time we were there, but then he took off running as we drove away - those critters can definitely leap.
