Geocache Description:

This Cache is located at the top of Jeep Hill, which is between Mt. Laurel Estates and Beatty Flats off of Carney Road,in Latrobe, which you can get to by turning toward Mt. View off of Route 30. Most people will need to park at the following Coordinates: 40.18.283 N and 079.26.750 W.

First of all no matter what has been written in the logs below, this is a very tough hill climb. I feel that it would be irresponsible for me not to attempt to make people believe that this is a dangerous hill climb for the inexperienced. With that being said read on.

The terrain rating is based on the final approach of about 200 yards. It is possible to drive to within about 100 yards of this one provided that you have the proper Expert Hill Climbing Skills and the Vehicle that you need to go with these skills. Make no Mistake about it when I say expert I mean EXPERT! Your 4WD vehicle off the lot will not cut it! I strongly recommend that you have a roll cage, big tires, lockers, or some other true four-wheel drive, a powerful engine, and some big kahoonas if you attempt to drive the whole way.

Lil Crock loves to go off-roading with me but I would never consider trying this one with him in my vehicle.

When Crock was a teenager, many, many, moons ago, this was a party spot where a bunch of fools would meet, grow brave (if you know what I mean), and then attempt the hill. It was an almost every weekend event weather permitting. Crock has rolled several vehicles over the years while attempting to climb the hill and also when coming back down the hill after a successful climb.

Although the hill is a lot smoother now, then back in the day, when it had huge rocks and deep ruts all over it. Make no mistake; this is still an expert hill.

Crockette bailed on me when I climbed the hill in The Bionic Bronco to put the cache in. I did not have much trouble convincing her to ride back down the hill with me after she hoofed up it on foot.

She did however, punch me several times and vow that she will never revisit this cache again, she will wait for me at the bottom.

It is up to you on how close you want to drive to the cache. You can park anywhere that there is room from the above parking coordinates right up to within 100 yards of the cache. Please post in your logs how close you got before you decided to go it on foot. You never have to leave the very wide (road width) trails until the final approach. You will need good ankle support and I suggest a walking stick for going on foot.

Today was my %!st birthday and this is my gift to you. I hope you like it. Remember, STAY SAFE!! BE SENSIBLE!! OR YOU AND YOUR VEHICLE MAY GET DAMAGED!!

The cache is in a 50 Cal ammo can. Please remember to trade fairly and re-hide it as well as you can. Wear florescent orange during the hunting season.
