Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the published co-ordinates.

Dedicated to the Wirral and Cheshire Gnome Societies.

A gnome has got lost close to the ancestral home of all gnomes. Can you help find him? Please approach from the footpath not the road.

Something small came on to the geocaching scene on the Wirral in November 2013. The Wirral Gnome Society (WGS) were born. They quickly released a cache, Baldmoney, a means to introduce the "mortals" of the Wirral to "the Little people". Soon more followed and tongues started wagging and fingers started pointing as to who was behind the WGS. Cachers on the Wirral and in Cheshire had their own ideas and theories but no one could be 100% sure. We were even honoured to have one of our very own Beware caches copied by them and at the point of writing this it is the only Wirral Gnome cache we have found.

As the talk and fingering pointing grew suddenly a new gnome appeared but this time it was not the Wirral Gnome Society! This was a whole new society, or in this case a trust. In July 2014 the Cheshire Gnome Trust (CGT) was born and their first cache was Thornapple. Unlike the WGS the CGT haven't been so quick to reveal their gnome members and whilst writing this there are only 2 CGT caches. We have so far only found one of these as well, Betula.

The tongues wagged more and fingers pointed all over the place! Are those behind the Wirral Gnome Society also behind the Cheshire Gnome Trust? Are they separate? Who knows. Everyone has their suspicions and it would appear that the fingers are being pointed at a very select few. But who? What everyone does agree on is that this mystery has provided the community with great fun and laughs and really, do we want to know? It would spoil it.

However we can't allow these 2 great cache setters not be recognised by the community, therefore we have set them a cache. A Beware one of course (because as you will see we think that both the WGS and CGT are actually people who like to solve our Beware caches).

For the Wirral Gnome Society the fingers are pointing at: Sir Lannies, Sir PPR and Team Tazmina.

For the Cheshire Gnome Society the fingers are pointing at: Sir PPR, Pink Icing and ourselves.
