A Cock And Bull Story Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Secret Spies: Sadly this cache has come to the end of its run. The tree the original cache was hidden in had fallen over and the replacement cache hidden in its carcass. Since then the willow has rallied and regrown in a rather large spread of new saplings making the hide rather difficult to come by. As such, and due to that fact and that Wavendon Williams and Norfolk12 will be placing a number of new caches in the area for the upcoming event, I've decided to make room for a few more of theirs by archiving this cache.

Thanks to All who visitted it.

Geocache Description:

The Cock Hotel and the Bull Hotel, a few yards from each other in Stony Stratford High Street, are said to be where the infamous "Cock and Bull" story originated.

A Cock and Bull Story

Listed below are a number of unusual stories about Stony Stratford. Unusual maybe - but they are all true. Well, nearly all of them. One is clearly untrue - your mission is to identify the Cock and Bull Story. At this location you will find the coordinates for the actual cache. There is no micro, the coords are in full view. You just need to view from the right angle... Good luck!

N52° 03.370 W000° 51.285 This instrument, dating from 1739, (and more often seen horizontal) can only be used during certain hours of the day, and even then, only if you're lucky... T/F
N52° 03.391 W000° 51.120 A young boy was arrested at 28 High Street, taken to the Tower of London, and never seen again... T/F
N52° 03.081 W000° 50.519 These stones were quarried in Trieste, and travelled via Zurich, Reims, Dover and London on their way to Stony. T/F
N52° 03.431 W000° 51.215 The Vicar of St Mary's and St Giles sounds more like a map reference! T/F
N52° 03.373 W000° 51.096 During the 17th Century money was so scarce that some locals started minting their own instead! T/F
N52° 03.339 W000° 51.521 You are here. T/F
N52° 03.543 W000° 51.379 Stony has more than it's share of fine curry houses. At this one you can eat in style in the chapel of a former Boys Home. T/F
N52° 03.354 W000° 51.240 Formerly the site of a wooden "structure" - but now little more than a tangle of metal... T/F
N52° 03.374 W000° 51.100 Stony Stratford once produced the only equipment approved for use throughout Holland by the Dutch State Water Authority. T/F

N.B. The final location is in a fairly exposed area - please be discreet when retrieving and replacing the cache, and ensure that it is pushed well back into place when you have finished. Thanks.

I've been mulling over this cache idea since early last year. I'd like to thank Michael Winterbottom and 4OnTheMove ( Historic Town 1 - Stony Stratford) for providing the impetus to get the cache finished and launched. Why not do both Stony Stratford caches together? You never know, you might even be able to use the same clues twice! ;-)
