Geocache Description:

This cache is set in the Minesing Wetlands and abounds with ducks, geese, Blue Heron, frogs, Beaver, Muskrat etc.

We saw most of the above while setting this cache and evidence of the rest. We purposely picked a location that would appeal to a lot of tastes. Do you have a Kayak, a canoe, a zodiac or do you just like a good hike? You can do all of 'em! Just by the parking area, you can launch your boat – and there is a new little dock to tie up to next to the bridge. Watch out for the large quantities of swallows that swoop up and under this bridge - calling out and feeding their young. They call this place a “Wetland for all Seasons”, and from the little ankle-biting puddle jumpers, to the family pooch, this is guaranteed to be a good one for all and at the same time a bit of a challenge.

First off - we recommend wearing sturdy (and preferably waterproof or better yet knee-high rubber) boots, a pair of old socks and plenty of bug repellent (after mid-May!) That said – the first half of this cache is pretty, peaceful, informative and teaming with wildlife. There is a pretty river to walk along to guide your way. Frog and bird-song abound and there are plenty of nice open spaces to picnic, and some rest seats have been made available. The second half is a little different. This is where the waterproof boots and possibly the bug repellent will come in handy! Don’t say you weren’t warned…..OK? If you take a boat.....there are at least two places to beach your craft before setting out on the hiking part. We recommend all hikers to stick to the trail by the river until you really have to branch off to the cache direction. Oh - and stick to higher ground wherever possible. You'll see why!!!

The cache itself is a fairly large Tupperware type container with a blue lid, filled with great trinkets! If you are bringing a water craft (or just want the best place to park the car) we recommend parking at N44 25.312 W079 49.420 at the neat little parking corral provided.
