Der Holzhafen wird schon lange nicht mehr zum Holz be- und entladen benutzt, sondern liegt zwischen einem Kohlekraftwerk und dem ehemaligen Wasserwerk und heutigen Naturschutzgebiet Kaltehofe.

Es ist ein bezaubernd schöner Ort mit interessanter Lage und in ihrem widersprüchlichem Charme gar nicht so recht fassbar: Diese Mischung auf Lost-Place Architektur und Natur und Vogelschutzgebiet mitten in der Grossstadt und das Ganze auch noch komplett unvermüllt.

Heute am 20. April. 2008 zum Autofreien Sonntag in Hamburg ausgelegt, deswegen:
beachte - dies ist kein AutoCache.
Bitte mit Bahn Bus, Rad oder Inline Skate anreisen.
Zu empfehlen sind die S-Bahn Stationen "Rothenburgsort" oder "Billwerder Moorfleet" der Linie S21.

The "Holzhafen" long time ago, was the dock in which it was used to handle wood. The elbe-island kaltehofe was the important part of the preperation for the hamburger water supply and also a source for the local cholera in the 19th century. In the meantime both the dock and the island isn't really used any longer but the island is more or less a "lost place" with lots of birds who uses this fenced in water basins and this fantastic 19th century architecture. It is a fascination, calm and garbage-free place in the middle of an urban industrial surroundings.
Today at the 20th april 2008 is a car-free sunday in Hamburg. This is a good
chance to release this Cache. Therefore we would like to see if
you drop in by foot, by bicycle or inline skate.
We advice to use the public transortation S21 with the stations "Rothenburgsort" or "Billwerder Moorfleet".
It's within cycling distance.
