Maybe this will not be the most visited cache by locals, but I hope
it will be a good cache for tourists visiting Tromsø by car. It’s
highly recommended to visit this cache for it’s great view, and
great places to see on the trip to the cache location.
The cache is placed on the outside of Kvaløya, which is the island
west of Tromsø. Follow the signs to Kvaløya, then Sommarøy, then
Tromvik, and further to Rekvik. It’s about 1 hour to drive. Start
your walk were the road from Tromvik to Rekvik is on it’s highest.
This is also a good place to camp in a tent or a motor home.
On the trip you will pass Grøtfjorden, which has great beaches and
wild mountains. It will be possible to take a swim here on warm
days. You will also pass Tromvika, which is a small village based
on fishing. On the way you will see steep and impressive mountains.
Having visited the cache it’s recommended to take the road down to
Rekvika. It’s also recommended to take a walk northwest and follow
the edge of the cliff upwards. This will reward you with and
excellent view. Be aware, it’s 400 meters straight down from the
cliff.
The first island to the west is Sessøya. Further southwest is Senja
at 218°m. Interesting mountains to see is Hollenderen, Finnkjerka
and Skamtiden. At the cache you may see reindeer, White-tailed
Eagle and ptarmigan (grouse).
Cache is a translucent container with blue lid. About 15x10x10 cm.
