I used to live in this neighborhood before my divorce many years
ago. This huge tree (an oak I think) and its unique placement was
always a source of amusement to me as I came and went from my
nearby home. The neighbors told me that it was one of the remaining
original trees from the Killarny Farm that used to be here. The old
farmer still lived in the neighborhood and could occasionally be
seen walking the streets, bent over from time, but still pretty
spry. It will be interesting to hear what others have to say about
these neighborhood legions. Enjoy the cache!
Use caution when approaching the cache site. You will have to cross
a lane of traffic, but it is a residential area, not a main road.
The neighbors on either side may also be keeping an eye on you so
stealth is advised.
11/25/05 UPDATE: The original cache site was destroyed by
a car wreck somewhere around 10/27/05. It looks like the city is
taking their time in repairing the damage to the site.
5/6/06 UPDATE: The city has completed the repairs at the
cache site. The cache has been replaced
11/22/08 UPDATE: New container style placed. Location
slightly changed.
