Mikrorajons Kurzemes priekšpilsētā, starp Āgenskalna un Kristapa ielām.
Pirmais daudzstāvu (piecstāvu) brīvā plānojuma tipveida dzīvojamais apbūves celtniecības piemērs Latvijā (1958-1962, arhitekts N.Rendels).

Dzīvojamais masīvs uzbūvēts bijušās Švarcmuižas zemes teritorijā. Agrāk smilšaino kāpu valni klāja sils, no kā radies rajona nosaukums.

Slēpnis ir maza izmēra metāla kastīte ar logbook`u. (BYOP)
