Halloween had its beginning as an ancient pre-Christian Celtic festival of the dead. This festival was called Samhain.
Samhain became Halloween when Christain missionaries attempted to change the religious practices of the Celtics.
Today children dress up in different costumes, from funny to spooky and ask for candy.
