Mister Greenthumb and Sunshine: Checked today and the sign the cache was hidden on has been removed. No possible hiding spot with a view of the silo so this one is done.

THE SILO IS 100' EAST OF THE CACHE
This is #89 in our series of old silos without barns. Wisconsin roadsides have an abundance of lone standing silos that are all that remain of some farmstead. For some reason these old silos remain standing as a legacy to the family farm. As you view them reminisce and imagine what the farm that stood here may have looked like. We hope you enjoy this series and finding the old silos. Please feel free to post photos of the silos with your log.
Silo facts: The word silo means "cellar". Before silos corn was stored
underground in cellars.
Silo facts: One of the reasons for the building of silos in Wisconsin, was to store corn to feed cows over the winter months. Before a farm had a silo, many farmers sold their cow herds in fall and then re-bought the cows in spring. It was too costly to buy the feed during the winter.
Silo Fact: Why are all the silos the same general shape, width and height? It was determined in the 1920's that anything taller or wider would result in too much loss of grain due to mold.
Silo Fact: In 1923 there were 100,000 silos in Wisconsin
the most of any state. New York was in second place with only 54,000
