Long walk but worth it. The China Flats area with a grove of oaks is great. The view from Simi Peak is 360 degrees and fantastic. Ocean view in one direction and mountain in all others. Hope it is a nice clear day for you. Take a lunch and camera.
Agent Viper is in action again. He is seeking coded radio transmissions emanating from the peak. They seem to correspond to seismic activity in the area. The code word is molded into the antenna at the peak. Do not disturb any of the equipment you may find at this site.
To verify your trek, email me with the five-letter code word. Do not post it in your comments. Or alternately, post a picture of yourself at the peak but do not reveal the code word in your photo. Any one failing comply will be eliminated, (well at least their entry.)
This is a rebirth of my original Simi Peak Cache but as a virtual to comply with NPS regulations.
I parked in Thousand Oaks in the Lang Ranch area. Excellent hard packed fire roads take you almost to the top. Allow yourself some time as it is a bit of a hike but worth it and do take ample water, as you will be on the trail for at least four hours if you take the Lang Ranch approach.
