Abyss of Pazin is an example of a specific evolution of Karst hydrography and morphology. It is a unique hydro-geologic speleology occurrence in Istria and the Dinaric karst.
The Pazin Cave inspired the famous writer Jules Verne, who in his novel ...................., takes his characters throughout the underground of the cave from Pazin to the Lim Canal. First research and the elaboration of the study was undertaken by the French caver E. A. Martel and the subterranean waters expert W. Putick, 1893-1896. The Pazincica River ends its above ground flow in an abyss located at the end of the several metres long and deep canyon. The entrance into the abyss is arched by a semicircular cave (Dante's lobby). The Pazincica runs on through a narrow subterranean canal. At about 100 metres from the entrance to the abyss, it enlarges the passage thus forming a hall (80 x 20 m) with a lake (Martel's lake). The lake waters flow on into the underground through a siphon building up a following smaller hall with a lake (Mitar's lake).

Die Höhle von Pazin ist ein Beispiel für die spezifische Evolution der Hydrographie und Morphologie des Karsts und eine einzigartige hydrogeologische und speläologische Erscheinung in Istrien und im Karst der Dinariden.
Von der Paziner Höhle wurde auch der weltbekannte Schriftsteller Jules Verne inspiriert, der die Helden in seinem Roman ..................... durch das Innere der Höhle von Pazin bis zum Limfjord führt. Die ersten Forschungen, mit der Erstellung einer Skizze, verdanken wir dem französischen Speläologen E. A. Martel und dem Experten für unterirdische Gewässer W. Putick, 1893-1896. Der Lauf des Flüsschens Pazincica endet unterirdisch in einem Schluckloch (Ponor), das sich am Ende einer einige hundert Meter langen und tiefen Schlucht befindet. Der Eingang in diese Schachthöhle (Ponor) ist durch einen halbrunden Hohlraum (Dantes Vorhalle) überwölbt. Der Fluss Pazincica fließt unterirdisch durch einen engen Kanal weiter. Nach einigen 100 Metern vom Eingang der Schachthöhle, erweitert sich der Durchgang und bildet einen Höhlensaal (80 x 20 m) mit einem See (Martelsee). Das Wasser des Sees fließt unterirdisch, durch ein Siphon weiter ab und bildet den nächsten kleineren Höhlensaal mit einem See (Mitar-See).

Pazinska jama predstavlja primjer specificne evolucije krške hidrografije i morfologije, te jedinstvenu hidrogeološku i speleološku pojavu u Istri i dinarskom kršu. Pazinska jama nadahnjuje svjetski poznatoga pisca Julesa Vernea, koji u romanu ...................., provodi junake podzemljem jame od Pazina do Limskog kanala. Prva istraživanja, sa izradom nacrta, obavili su francuski speleolog E. A. Martel i strucnjak za podzemne vode W. Putick, 1893-1896. Pazincica završava svoj nadzemni tok ponorom koji se nalazi na kraju nekoliko stotina metara dugackog i dubokog kanjona. Ulaz ponora nadsvoduje polukružna šupljina (Danteovo predvorje). Pazincica tece dalje uskim podzemnim kanalom. Na stotinjak m od ulaza ponora, proširuje prolaz, te formira dvoranu (80 x 20 m) sa jezerom (Martelovo jezero). Vode jezera otjecu dalje u podzemlje kroz sifon, gradeci sljedecu manju dvoranu sa jezerom (Mitrovo jezero).

In the hydro-geological sense, the Cave of Pazin is an abyss created on the junction of the impermeable flysch base of the confluence of the Pazincica and the permeable limestone that makes up the whole area of southwest Istria. Right behind the impressive gorge of the abyss is a long hall with a large cave lake- Martel's lake. By means of a siphon, it is connected with the nearby Mitar's lake.

Das Schluckloch (Ponor)
Im hydrogeologischen Sinne ist die Paziner Höhle ein Schluckloch (Ponor), entstanden an der Kontaktstelle der wasserundurchlässigen Flyschschicht des Flussbereichs des Flüsschens Pazincica und der wasserdurchlässigen Kalkschicht, die sich über den gesamten Raum des Südwestens von Istrien erstreckt. Sofort hinter der imposanten Öffnung des Schlucklochs (Ponors), hat sich ein langgezogener Saal mit einem großen Höhlensee gebildet – der Martelsee. Dieser ist durch einen engen Abfluss, ein Siphon, mit dem nächsten See – dem Mitarsee verbunden.

Pazincica
Einst floss das Flüsschen Pazincica an der Erdoberfläche, vorbei an Beram, Kringa und Dvigrad, bis zum Meer, und bildete so das Tal zum Limfjord (Limska draga). -->GC23174

U hidrogeološkom smislu Pazinska jama predstavlja ponor koji je  nastao na dodiru vodonepropusne flišne podloge sliva Pazincice  i vodopropusnih vapnenaca koji izgraduju cijeli prostor jugozapadne Istre. Odmah iza impozantnog ždrijela ponora, formirana je dugacka dvorana sa velikim jamskim jezerom- Martelovim jezerom. Ono je  sifonom spojeno sa slijedecim- Mitrovim jezerom.

Nekad je Pazincica tekla površinom zemlje-pokraj Berma, Kringe i Dvigrada sve do mora- formirajuci Limsku dragu. -->GC23174
