Geocache Description:

Part of a series of 11 caches on a walk of about 6.5 miles,starting and finishing in Stow on the Wold,the highest town above sea level in the Cotswolds.

Abbotswood was purchased by Mark Fenwick-a wealthy member of an ex-banking family who later became Managing Director of the Consett Iron Co Ltd-in 1901.In the following year,he commissionrd Sir Edwin Lutyens to make extensive alterations to the house,and design the formal gardens immediately surrounding it.These included the terraces,gazebos,a formal lily pond and a canal garden.
