Setesdal #1, Reiaarsfossen Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

Norsk:

This is the first cache in my Setesdalserie of caches. I'll try to put caches into the places you MUST see when you are travelling threw this beautiful valley. The valley is full of great nature og exciting culture!

Reiaarsfossen a 300 m high waterfall. The waterfall is really worth a look. There goes a road from Ose up in the mountains (you'll have to pay to drive this road). In the end of the road there's a small lake called Reiaarsvatn. From this area there goes nice paths for hiking. Some of the tracks are marked others are not.

The story tells that Reiaarsfossen has acchieved it's name after a young man who had killed a man. The trial he was convicted to ride three times over the waterfall on a horse. After doing this a girl shouted from the other side of the waterfall that she still loved him, no matter what he had done. So he decided to ride across one last time to meet her. On his way over the horse slipped and they both got killed.

Between Reiaarsfossen and the river Otra there's a small camping. Every summer in the beginning of Juli the camping organizes a countrymusic festival. Normally there's a lot of people gathered, and plenty of life!

Have a great trip through Setesdal, use your eyes to see the nature!
