Geocache Description:

This earthcache is located in Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont.

Lake Louisa is the largest in a chain of 13 lakes connected together by the Palatalakaha River. This area is very unique in Central Florida. It is very hilly. As the Palatalakaha River flows from the southwest through the area the water collects in the low areas forming the chain of lakes. This area is part of the Lake Wales Ridge. The Lake Wales Ridge is a north-south oriented sandy uplands at the center of the FLorida peninsula. The Ridge is 325 feet above sea level The coordinates will take you to a beach area on Lake Louisa. There is a sign in the area where you will be able to collect the information needed to log your visit. Lake Louisa State Park is a great example of why it is so important to set aside areas to be preserved. This park is in an area that is being developed at a very fast pace. Luckily this fine example of natural Florida will be available to enjoy for all in the future. There is a small fee for entering the park. To log this cache email me the correct answers to the following questions. 1. Take a picture of yourself or a member of your party with your GPS unit with one or more of the unique trees at the water line. 2. What gives the water its color and what is the main source of the water in the lakes? 3. There are hills surrounding Lake Louisa, what were they thousands of years ago?
