2014 Geocaching International Film Festival

GeocacheAlaska! has been selected by Geocaching HQ in Seattle to be one of the five judges for the 2014 Geocaching International Film Festival!

Tuesday Night - July 22 - 6:30pm - BP Energy Center

You'll Laugh! ~ You'll Cry! ~ You'll get Free Pizza!

GeocacheAlaska! Rolls out the Red Carpet!

Join your fellow geocachers for a very unique opportunity on Tuesday night, July 22 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at the BP Energy Center in Anchorage. GeocacheAlaska! has been selected by Geocaching HQ in Seattle, WA to be one of the official judging organizations for the finalists in the 2014 Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF).

GeocacheAlaska! is buying the pizza for this FREE event. We request that all attendees post a "Will Attend" log to this cache page no later than Sunday, July 20, so that we can place an order for enough Pizza. We need to know how many people you will be bringing and you might want to drop a hint at your favorite pizza toppings as well.

During this event, we will be screening the short films that were selected by Geocaching HQ and voting for the winners in five categories. These categories are:

Most Creative
Most Adventurous
Funniest Film
Best Cinematography
Most Inspirational

After viewing the finalists in each category, attendees will vote for the winners via secret ballot. The results of our vote will be sent by covert hamsters back to Groundspeak to be combined with the votes from the other four judging organizations from other parts of the world. The winners will be announced at the GIFF event in Seattle on August 15, 2014.

In order to assure absolute secrecy of the finalists as well as the results of our vote, all attendees will be required to make a formal pledge of secrecy against the accuracy of their GPS. Breaking this sacred vow will immediately result in 7 years of 100-Meter signal degradation of any GPS in the geocacher's immediate vicinity. So, we strongly encourage all attendees to abide by the confidentiality rules placed upon us for being the official judges of these films.

After we have finished viewing and voting on the finalists for this year's GIFF, we'll cue up some of last year's finalists for your enjoyment for whatever remaining time we have for the event window.

The Geocaching International Film Festival is part of the Geocaching Block Party weekend in Seattle on August 15-17, 2014.
