En el bosque que rodea la laguna de El Portil encontramos algunos enebros costeros de porte majestuoso, testigos de lo que fueran extensos bosques de enebros y sabinas hace cientos de años.
Hoy, esta especie vulnerable sobrevive bajo el dosel de pinos junto a otras plantas de gran singularidad y belleza restringidas a los ecosistemas costeros.
Recuperar y conservar los enebrales es mantener uno de los patrimonios naturales más singulares de Andalucía para conseguir múltiples beneficios medioambientales y socioeconómicos derivados de la conservación de la biodiversidad.
In the woods sorrounding the El Portil lagoon are the majestic coastal junipers that stand as a testament to the extensive juniper and juniper savin woodlands that once were hundreds of year ago.
Today, this vulnerable species survives under the Pine tree canopy together with other unique and beautiful plants, all of whith are restricted to coastal ecosystems.
Recovering and conserving juniper formations is to preserve one of Andalusis's most unique natural heritages as a way of reaping the many environmental abd socioeconomic benefits arising from such biodiversity conservation.
