Geocache Description:

Skaveryd, Alingsås, Sweden.

Mid-1800s. Start of the industrial era in Sweden. The State of Sweden planned several main railways connecting the major cities in the country, and one of the these railways were the one between the two largest cities Stockholm and Gothenburg. The groundbreaking of that line took place April 30, 1855 here at Skaveryd, not far from the city of Alingsås. 25 years later, in 1880, a stone was placed here as a memorial monument of the groundbreaking.

The cache is situated at the place of this monument, close to the railway. It was placed here in the end of April, 2005, as to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the event.
