This cache is located at the start of the Pacific Crest Trail in
Washington, right off Historic Highway 14 and the Bridge of the
Gods. The terrain is a gradual uphill, maintained trail, and can be
reached easily and quickly with the clues. GPS reception is spotty
with the tree coverage, so picture and hints are highly
recommended.
The Pacific Crest
Trail is a 2,650 trail from the borders of Mexico to Canada
that goes through California, Oregon, and Washington, and a
total of 300 hikers thru-hike it completely every year! As an
homage to those amazing-- and arguably insane-- people, welcome
to the "Are You Up for the Crest? Start of PCT Washington"
Cache! The start of the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington is
nearly directly across from
the Bridge of the Gods and on the historic Highway
14 that follows the contours of the Columbia and Lewis and
Clark's trail. Parking is available right next to the trailhead,
which is marked by the following sign:
FTF prize are special coins! A nice bounty awaits all cachers--
good luck and be sure to check out the We Love Highway 14! series
on your way!
