Geocache Description:

Easy find in an interesting, out-of-the-way place

This area needed a cache. It's a regular size with a log and a few useful or neat items of swag. If you seek it, please exchange swag. It's in Apishapa State Wildlife Area, a beautiful canyon on the eastern plains of Colorado. It's a bit off the beaten path: 16+ miles east of Walsenburg on highway CO 10 to the turnoff for Apishapa State Wildlife Area, then a 20-mile+ drive on dirt roads from CO 10 to the trail-head. The last couple miles require a high-clearance vehicle. It's a relatively short hike out to the cache, but you must descend into the canyon on a trail marked by occasional cairns, then ascend a rocky butte. Bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and a hat any time of the year, bug repellent in summer. Watch for cacti and snakes. Valid hunting or fishing license required! This geocache is located on a State Wildlife Area or CPW-leased State Trust Land. A valid hunting or fishing license is required to access and recreate on this property. All other rules and regulations by Colorado Parks & Wildlife apply. Learn more at https://cpw.state.co.us/.
