Peak 2589 - Coyote Mountain Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: When it announced that Anza Borrego Desert State Park would no longer allow geocaches, this cache was disabled in hopes that we could come to an arrangement where some geocaches could remain in the Park. Many years have passed and the situation has not changed and as this cache owner now seems to be inactive, I am archiving this cache.

Geocache Description:

Ridge hike with 2500 ft elevation gain and 8 miles round trip on Coyote Mountain in Anza Borrigo State Park.

This hike follows a long abandoned jeep road up Coyote Mountain to the summit of Peak 2589. This ridge separates the Clark Valley and the Borrego Valley. There are great views all along the way. I parked on Henderson Canyon Road just west of the Peg Leg Smith monument and headed straight up to intersect the jeep trail.
Check the summit cairne for a jar containing log entries that go back 22 years.
