The trailhead at Tom Brown Park is at waypoint N30 26.852/W084
12.615. There is now a new bridge here over the stream. Follow the
trail into the woods. The cache is .82 miles from the trailhead
(about a mile total walk, one-way, from the nearest parking). When
you get to the waypoint, turn west and walk 30 feet uphill. The
cache is at the root end of a fallen tree, covered with sticks and
leaves.
You may also approach the trail from the "Piney Z Plantation"
housing development. There is a new park at the end of Heritage
Park Blvd. off of Conner Blvd. From near the lake, follow the trail
to the left, about 7/10ths of a mile walk to the cache.
The cache is a gray, plastic box with "GEOCACHE" stenciled in
white on the sides. It originally contained: a keychain flashlight,
wooden canoe, die-cast car, X-files cards, camping stickers, coins,
Discovery Channel pin and a Poncho.
Notes on the trail: The area is carpeted with poison ivy so
stick to the trail. I tried to hide the cache in an area in which
the poison ivy is sparse. There is plenty of wildlife to be enjoyed
on the hike but be wary of snakes and mosquitos. The terrain is
hilly and rough in spots. The trail forks off at several points but
they all come back to the same trail. At some points the trail can
become difficult but you can always backtrack and take another
fork. Be on the lookout for bicycles. PLEASE COVER THE CONTAINER
BACK UP WITH STICKS AND LEAVES WHEN YOU ARE DONE!
September, 2005: Checked the cache, all is dry and in good
shape. Added a new log book.
