We're going to have a boneyard...I mean backyard barbeque starting at 11:30am. UPDATE: We'll meet inside the Elkhart Community Center, across the street from the house. We'll provide hotdogs, chili, and plates/bowls/utensils, please bring a side or dessert. Also, please bring your chairs.
Afterward, we'll release some new caches...including some gadget caches and Halloween-themed caches. We've partnered with Heidi at Polk County Conservation to give you another opportunity to win a beautiful PCC Geocoin. We're hiding 10 gadget caches inside of Polk County parks. Each cache has a plastic tag with a pattern punched out of it. Event attendees will get a sheet of paper to collect clues. Make a rubbing of the pattern for each cache, get all 10 and return to the event site to collect a coin...very similar to the geocoin award rules for the Iowa Geocaching Championships a couple weeks ago. As for the gadget caches, bring a UV light, be ready to do some math, and decode some encrypted messages (perhaps the decoder wheel will be handy...so will smartphones).
Costumes are optional...put your scary on and let's have some fun!
