Located near Moscow, East Ayrshire. From Galston take the A71 to Moscow, turn right into Hemphill Road. Here is a great opportunity to bag 3 Moscow caches in one afternoon. Continue past “ A New Russian Forest” and “Mockba” until road bears 90 degrees right, ( park here at the Aluminium gate if you came by car) the cache is 100 yards to the SE along this access road. If you pass the radio mast to your left you have gone too far .
We could call this the Moscow trail now, with 3 decent sized geocaches in fairly close proximity. You simply must take advantage of the views across West Ayrshire seen on the way up to the cache, look out for circling buzzards, sparrow hawk, kestrel and the odd other bird of prey on the way. Roe deer are commonplace both at the Cache site and on the way. What is left of the forest ( After the forestry commission’s so called “Land Management”) has actually provided some good perches for birds of prey to hunt from. New pines have been planted to encourage new wildlife. The GC has a bunch of goodies for the kids, log, pencil and an Etch A Cache trackeable. If you take something, please leave something. The Cache can now be accessed in ALL weathers as located just off the access road.
