The cache is a 35mm film pot (the original 1 litre clip-lock box disappeared) at ground level.
The Belle Tout Lighthouse sits high on Beachy Head.
Unfortunately, being so high, its light could not be seen in the fog so it was replaced by the lighthouse at sea level.
Have you noticed that you don't hear Fog Horns any more?
Nor me until recently!
Apparently they aren't needed any more because the Radionavigation Beacons, etc, keep vessels away from obstructions.
I bet there is a web site somewhere with recordings of them.
