Geocache Description:

The train comes out of the tunnel.

Use Google Earth to find the coordinates of the front edge of the tunnel opening directly above the center line of the tracks. See 8/2/2011 note below for help using Google earth.

Confirm the coordinates using Geocheck. If your coordinates are exactly correct the location of the cache in Seattle will be displayed. Help: The final digit in both Lat and Lon is an even number.

It's amazing that the current crop of on-line tools makes this is a very doable puzzle.

Note 8/2/2011: Changes to Google Earth in version 6.0 will require that your version is setup correctly. If you use the default settings for v6.0 you will not be able to solve this puzzle.

(1) Turn off automatic tilting: Tools/Option/Navigation - select "do not automatically tilt while zooming".

(2) Allow lat/lon to display: View/Status Bar - Click to togel status bar on.

(3) Set lat/lon format: Tools/Options/3D - Select "degrees minutes decimal minutes".

(4) Display a historical image that has a clear view of tunnel opening (current view is shadow) Click year at bottom left (on status bar) to display historical imagery slider bar at top left of screen. Select 12/30/2007 by advancing the slider bar. Be aware that some historical images give slightly different coordinates for the center of tunnel opening. 12/30/2007 gives correct coordinates when the thumb of the hand pointer is exactly on the center of the opening. Many more recent images do not show the opening at all, so the 2007 image is definitely the one to use.
