If you like adventurous walks this is a cache for you ! It’s about 5 km long. If you know the Lord of the Rings you will quickly understand why we called this one MORIA. This cache will be a joy for not too young children (min. 10 years old) who aren’t afraid in the dark. Nevertheless there are some dangerous spots on the way where you’ll have to pay attention.
The walks runs over the “Mont d’Haurs” and will bring you to the “Napoleon stables” which were built at the end of the 17th century.
Ok ! Off we go !
From the car park go to the entrance of ”The Watch Tower” (N 50°07,998’ E 004°49,639) ’ There you will see some circular things on the entrance gate (see picture “Things”). If you count those things you have number A ! A=
Now we go to N 50°07,962’ E 004°49,587 and afterwards we go to the power pylon at N 50°07,731’ E 004°49,660. It’s number is your number BCD ! BCD=
From that pylon go to the next one in south eastern direction( N 50°07,650' E 004°49,817')
There is a path up there which will lead you to a fork in that path at N 50° 07,649' E 004° 49,706'
From there go to N 50° 07,660' E 004° 49,691' which is the entrance of a mystic building. Watch out for the barbed wire !!!
Go inside and seek for a cross in the ceiling. Position yourself under that cross facing the 3 holes. Go 3 meters in the direction you are heading and you will see at your right a word written in white letters starting with an N and ending with U. The number of letters in the whole word gives you number F ! F=
Once you know this number get to the cellar and count the number of steps. That gives you number G ! G=
Watch out the steps might be very slippery !!!
Now that you have all the numbers you need you could choose to go directly to the cache but that could be dangerous and much less fun !!! so this is what I propose :
Get out of the cellar and now get out of this damned building !! Leave the building by taking the exit in the third “room” . Join the path which runs on top of the fortification wall and follow it until you reach a hole in the ground (N 50°07,662’ E 004°49,608) Put on your lights and get down !
Once you’re out go to N 50°07,620’ E 004°49,724 and get in again. Follow all the way and once out you have to go to N 50°07,646’ E 004°49,786 and again you enter ...and follow until you’re out and you’re in front of another one which you have to follow. Again in open air it’s time to do some calculation in order to find the cache.
The cache is hidden at N 50°07,ABB E 004°49,(A+B+B+C)(F-B-B)D
To get back to where you’re car is go to N 50°07,669’ E 004°49,916 from there it’s easy ...
