Mirkwood Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Lactodorum: Hi, this looks like the cache needs some TLC. Could the owner please undertake a maintenance visit to check it out and replace any damaged items. In the meantime I'm archiving it but I'll happily unarchive it if/when it's sorted assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Thanks, Lactodorum

Geocache Description:

In a forest of scientific and literary interest, near one of the oldest archeological sites in the region.

The cache is a brown ammo box in a green sand bag, about 100yds from the forest entrance. Parking is only about 1/2 mile away, and the round trip to the cache can be done in less than an hour, although I'd recommend taking longer and walking around the entire woodland area. An incredible place in the heart of the city - a surprise and a joy at the same time, but best not come here at night. The contents are as follows:
  • 5xcalling cards
  • 1xcache sheet
  • 1xwaterproof camera
  • 2xAA batteries
  • 2xtrading card packs
  • 1xtravel bug (let's get it movin')
  • 1xnotebook
  • 1xpen
  • 1xpencil
  • 1xRubber stress frog from Shropshire view
  • When you find the cache please remove it to a safe place to take a photo and make a note in the log book, then return it making sure it is completely hidden from view and that you are not seen doing it. If you follow the path to the end there is an ideal spot by a murky pond to sit and read the calling card, and feel free to take one away with you if you want.

Enjoy! NOTE - Put the ammo box back in the bag anyway you please, just make sure the writing's hidden. Some people have reported it being a tight fit, and I'd hate you to waste ages mucking around repacking. The bag is only to matt down the shine for when the sun's out - there's no reason it goes in one way or the other. NEW NOTE (copied from cheat, but it seemed unfair to keep the info hidden there) - The ground here is boggy, even after a dry spell, so bring boots. Update 070105 - Sorry ths cache has been neglected for a while. I have a new camera and am planning on getting down there soon to retrieve the old one and replace it with the new one. Probably won't even be able to find the cache myself now. Well done and thanks to all who've found it so far. Another is in the offing soon. Jules.
