This cache is located at the site of the archived Mt. Persis View Cache at 4,000ft with incredible views in all directions. Hike is about 5 miles roundtrip that gains 1,400 ft elevation on an abandoned logging road. Use of a mountain bike is possible for much of the road. You are looking for a small 3x4 red snap lock container.
Driving directions: Take US 2 east of Goldbar or west of Index and turn south onto Forrest Rd. 62 at N 47.49.135 W 121 36.651 Caution: There is active logging on this road. This is a good gravel road that climbs about 3 miles to a left turn at N 47 48.175 W 121 38.700 Continue climbing on this road to a right hand turn at N 47 47.567 W 121 38.675 This road is in good shape (except for one section) to parking at N 47 46.954 W 121 37.880 2,600ft el. The rough section is passable if taken slowly and carefully with a passenger car. If in doubt park here. There is plenty of room off the side off the road and only adds another .75 miles to the hike. At the parking cords. you'll see where the road was washed out in a flood. Follow this road south on a pleasent walk/ride widing your way up and around the ridge above with better and better views. The road deadends at a junction and large log across the road. Go to the left on an old reclaimed road/trail. If on a mountain bike you might want to park it here as the way gets very rocky. The road/trail climbs up above the logged off basin with rapidly expanding views to the narrow ridgetop and cache. On a clear day you'll have a knarly view in all directions. Enjoy.
