On the evening of 28 August 2007, the Moon will pass through the
shadow of the Earth. For just over two hours the normally bright
full moon will taken and take on a dark reddish hue.
Come along to Wentworth Common at Sydney Olympic Park to view
this amazing event - the first over Australian skies for several
years. The common has BBQ facilities, tables and taps, however the
nearby toilets will be locked. Toilets are available close to
Telstra Stadium on Olympic Bvd.
Total Lunar Eclipse - 5 May 2004
Note: a total lunar eclipse is safe to watch and you don't
require any special equipment. A pair of binoculars is handy to
have, but not necessary. If you bring a camera along, make sure you
also bring a tripod.
There will be no lighting, so bring along a torch, and because
it is occuring at night, bring along warm clothes.
Sunset is at approximately 5.34 pm, and darkness around 6.00 pm.
The total eclipse begins at 7.52 pm (Sydney time), with the
greatest part of the eclipse at 8.37 pm.
I will be there from 5 pm to collect any TBs or coins you bring
along - they will be available for swapping from around 6.30 pm (or
when I've eaten).
