Mid-South Fair Grounds: Past Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nvisible: I was contacted by a non-cacher last week who found the cache about 100 yards from the hide location. He was using a metal detector and found it several inches below ground level!
I will redo this series one day. Thanks to all who searched and enjoyed the hunt.

Geocache Description:

From July 23,
The Mid-South Fair Grounds started as a horse racing venue in the late 1800's before it was purchased by the city in 1897. Over the last century it has been the home to soldiers, fairs, livestock, and an amusement park. Liberty Land opened in 1976 with two major rides: the Zippin Pippin and the Grand Carousel. Over the years many more rides, shows and attractions were added. Due to declining visitors and increasing operating costs the park was closed in 2005. Most of the rides were sold for scrap and the land was cleared. The area of the hide is near one of my favorite rides the park featured, The Revolution. With a corkscrew, two inversions, and a max speed of 55 MPH it was a true thrill to many visitors. *While there are no gates to the area, please only hunt during the daylight hours. MPD keeps a very close eye on this area.*
