This cache has been archived.

WGA2: I noticed that this cache has remained temporarily disabled for a period of time well in excess of the period of ‘a few weeks’ as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. For now, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact me at the below e-mail address when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past.

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

This is an UNDERWATER cache designed as a tribute to the rock band The B-52's. The cache is along the rocky shore of Devil's lake. The cache is a orange rubber lobster placed inside a orange water bottle. The cache is attached by clips to a large rock. You will have to swim down to release the clips and swim back to shore(rocks) to sign the log book. The clips are like dog leash clips. Please replace the cache exactly as you found it. Please leave the lobster in the cache. Enjoy the swim!

It has been said that the B-52's are as quintessentially American as the Beach Boys. And twenty-five years and over twenty million albums into a career that began as a low-rent lark in Athens, Georgia. The B-52's remain the most unlikely rock stars ever. The first band to glorify pop culture with an almost Warholian sense of purpose, the B-52's purveyed their absured B-movie style and off-kilter sound celebrating the weirdness lurking beneath the surface of Americana- not exactly a recipe for success but way ahead of its time, nontheless. The B-52's influence cuts a wide path through much of so called "modern-rock"- from the low-fi effort of nouveau garage bands to retro-hip of ultra lounge, to the very core of dance music itself. They did their own thing- a combination of rock"n"roll, funk, and Fellini, and game show host, and corn, and mysticism. Their underlying message was "It's ok to be different". The B-52's unforgettable dance-rock tunes start the party every time the music begins. Their songs "Roam", "Planet Claire", "Private Idaho", "Love Shack", and of course "Rock Lobster" are classics. Have a great swim.

Hint: A few of the lyrics to the song "Rock Lobster"

We were at a party
His ear lobe fell in the deep
Someone reached out and grabbed it
It was rock lobster

We were at a beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was rock lobster
