Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in a beautiful but much under-utilised park on a headland between Edmunds Bay and Fennell Bay in Lake Macquarie. The park itself has a kids play area, barbeques and is dog friendly. For those feeling energetic, nearby is a greenway that runs along the now unused railway line between Fassifern and Toronto.

Blackalls Park was named after the first family to live in the area.

In 1891 a tramline opened between Fassifern (a station on the main line between Newcastle and Sydney) and Toronto. This line operated until 1990 when buses replaced the trains.

The railway line itself remains in place and has been established as a greenway. Toronto railway station is maintained by local enthusiasts and is worth a visit. It is about a 3km walk from the cache location to Toronto.
