Blackalls Park was named after the first family to live in the area.
In 1891 a tramline opened between Fassifern (a station on the main line between Newcastle and Sydney) and Toronto. This line operated until 1990 when buses replaced the trains.
The railway line itself remains in place and has been established as a greenway. Toronto railway station is maintained by local enthusiasts and is worth a visit. It is about a 3km walk from the cache location to Toronto.
