Did you know that this area, Ebey’s Landing, was designated the nation’s first National Historic Reserve in 1978? Read the plaques to learn about Col. Isaac Ebey, the first permanent resident, and the area’s fascinating history, then enjoy a beach stroll to Perego’s Lagoon. You are looking for a small Lock&Lock.
While you're here, you really should get the other nearby caches - they have an even better view! From the parking area, you can do a 3.5-mile loop, climbing first to Ebey Bluffs, continuing on to I'd Turn Back if I Were You, and then descending along the side trail to the beach for a nice walk back to this cache and the parking lot. (You can do it in reverse, of course, and get this cache first, but counterclockwise is less strenuous and better viewing.)
Bonus points for doing the hula at the cache site and posting a picture.
Update 1/14/09: There have been some great hula pics posted over the past 3.5 years. Thanks to everyone who's gotten into the hula spirit! Ambrosia's group with their grass skirts and leis, the many hilarious performances by others...but Best in Show goes to quadsinthemud for this video they made on a bone-chilling day at the Whidbey Cache Machine (1/09). Great stuff!
