Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of caches sponsored by Boy Scout Leaders in Central New Jersey Council BSA that will feature Eagle projects.

Eagle is the highest rank that a boy can earn in scouts. He has to complete at least 21 merit badges (12 specific required ones and 9 others of his choosing). He also has to hold a position of leadership in the troop for at least 6 months, plus plan and carry out a service project that benefits either a religious or community organization. Many of these projects exceed 100 man-hours to complete. The scout has to fund-raise to pay for this also.

There will be a total of 13 caches in the series. The first 12 will be named for the 12 points of the Scout Law: “A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent”. The 13th cache will be a puzzle cache. There is a clue in each of the first 12 that taken together will give you the co-ordinates of the final cache. As you visit each of the caches, be sure to collect the clue in each one so that you can gather the co-ordinates for the final puzzle cache. These all will be coming soon. Completion of the whole series will enable you to purchase a special patch designed for our council to commemorate this series.

This cache is located in Mercer County Park Northwest. The project that Eagle Scout Alexander of Troop 6284 did was build and install Bluebird boxes and Kestrel Nesting boxes. Kestrel’s are an endangered species in NJ and installation of these boxes can help the population. The Bluebird boxes are not only near the entrance off of Cold Soil Rd, but also out in the fields in that area. The Kestrel boxes are located more north and west of the entrance area, more in the woods. This project took 139 hours to complete.

You are looking for a spray painted plastic powdered drink mix container (about 6"x3"). It is in one of the remnants of the wire tower foundation.
