Geocache Description:

A service event where Geocachers instruct adult Girl Scout volunteer leaders in Geocaching at the Girl Scout Fall Frolic.

On October 1 from 2:30 until 5:30 pm we will be at Girl Scout Camp Congaree to teach Girl Scout adult leaders the basics of Geocaching. The national Girl Scout council has determined that Scouting and Geocaching are a good match and that they want to start Geocaching nationwide. The local Congaree Council wants to get a head start and has asked that we, the local Geocaching community, instruct them. This is a good service that should engender considerable goodwill.
UPDATE: The coords have been altered slightly and are now the actual parking coords. TandS and Smudge have been to Camp Congaree and hidden 4 demo caches. A regular cache, a small cache, a micro and a very nice combo cache. We are ready for the event.

There will be a lot of Girl Scout activities at this event, but Geocachers will only be involved in the training session. You do not have to be an expert to participate. Remember, we will only be teaching the basics and all can help. We will try to conduct several geocaching "basics" classes at the same time so we need good participation.

The coords listed were extrapolated from maps by TandS and should be pretty good, but here are driving directions:

Take I20W toward Augusta. Take Exit 55SC6 toward Red Bank. Turn left on SC6 Lake Dr. Go straight to SC 302/6 Edmund Hwy. Turn right on Crystal Springs Dr. Turn right on Noah Lucas Dr. End at 300 Noah Lucas Dr.

TandS and Team Wee Lee and perhaps other Geocachers plan to visit Camp Congaree the previous weekend to hide some demo caches. For the event you will need your GPS. If you have more than one bring them all. There are no phone lines, but laptops that can be connected to cell phones would help. We plan to have printouts of the demo caches for the scout leaders. This is a good opportunity to help the Girl Scouts and introduce new cachers to the Geocaching community. If you are able to attend please log in and let us know so we can plan accordingly.

As we get more information we will post it, so please keep checking in for updates.
