A NANO-cache in Helsinki, Munkkivuori. NOTE: especially great danger of geomuggles.
Munkkivuoren ostari tunnetaan Suomen ensimmäisenä ostoskeskuksena. Se avattiin vuonna 1959. Rakennuttaja Otto Wuorio Oy:n toimitusjohtaja kävi ottamassa mallia tälle Suomen ensimmäiselle ostoskeskukselle aina Amerikasta asti.
Ostoskeskusta laajennettiin ja uudistettiin 1964 ja jälleen 1994. Vuonna 2002 Museovirasto tutki ja litteroi kaikki Suomen ostoskeskukset ja tässä tutkimuksessa todetaan Munkkivuoren ostoskeskuksen olevan A1 luokan ensimmäinen, niin toiminnallisuudellaan kuin kulttuuriarvoltaan. Helsingin kaupunki ja Museovirasto tukevat kuitenkin tuleviakin parannustöitä. Munkkivuoren vireä ostoskeskus ei siis ole jäänyt polkemaan paikallaan ja kauppiaiden vuonna 1994 perustama Munkiseudun yrittäjäyhdistys r.y. toimii aktiivisesti koko Munkinseudun ja eritoten ostoskeskuksen kehittämiseksi.
Nykyisin tämä ostoskeskus ei vedä vertoja uusiin isoihin kauppakeskittymiin kuten Forum, Cello tai Jumbo, mutta se tarjoaa lähiseudun asukkaille melko monipuoliset mahdollisuudet monenlaisten (päivittäis)tarvikkeiden ostamiseen. Kätkön läheisyydessä on pieni leikkipuisto, jossa pienimmät kätköilijät voivat leikkiä, jos etsiminen ei innostakaan. Kätkö on löydettävissä myös talvella. Suurin haaste tämän kätkön loggaamisesssa on suuri jästivaara, erityisesti aurinkoisella säällä.
Tämä melko pienikokoinen kätkö sisälsi alun perin:
- geokätkentä -infolipukkeen
- lokikirjan
- lyijykynän
- terottimen
- kuivatusainepussin
- kauniin pienen lasikuulan
- eläintarran
- vanhan suomalaisen kolikon
- pikkuruisen peikkoukkelin
Nyttemmin tämä on muuttunut nanoksi, joten mitään varsinaista "ylimääräistä" tavaraa tämä ei jatkossa tulle sisältämään.
The shopping center of Munkkivuori is known as the first shopping center of Finland. It was opened in 1959. It was constructed by Otto Wuorio Inc., the president of which travelled all the way to United States to get some ideas and inspiration on how to build this kind of a new shopping area.
The shopping center has been enlarged and renovated in 1964 and again in 1994. In 2002 The National Board of Antiquities researched all shopping centers in Finland and this study revealed that Munkkivuori shopping center is an A1 class shopping mall, both by standards of usage and cultural values. However, the city of Helsinki and The National Board of Antiquities are still positive towards the upcoming renovations. This cosy and lively shopping center has not been left behind in time, and the owners of the stores have founded a foundation in 1994 to actively improve the shopping center and the surrounding living area.
Nowadays this smallish shopping center cannot meet the standards of the big new shopping centers, i.e. Forum, Cello or Jumbo, but it still offers good shopping possibilities of several (daily) goods for the inhabitants of the surrounding area. There is a small playground near the cache, so that the smaller geocachers can entertain themselves if geocaching doesn´t interest them at the time. This cache can be found in winter, too. The biggest challenge in logging this cache is the great danger of geomuggles, especially during warm sunny days.
The contents of this quite small cache originally were:

-a beautiful small glass ball
-an animal sticker
-an old Finnish coin
-a tiny troll figure
Nowadays this cache has transformed into a nano, thus it will not contain much "additional" stuff.
