4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This park is a bit of a local secret. The cache is not far off the path. In fact, this cache will be an easy find.

This park has a long and varied history, and one of the very few in the eastern suburbs of Sydney where you can walk your dog off-leash.

Over 40 years ago, this strip of land was part of the Australian Golf Course. Rosebery also played host to two of Sydney's racecourses and trainers used this strip of land to train their horses.

From memory, this same strip of parkland was part of the Australian Golf Course when Jack Nicklaus won the Australian Golf Open in 1975.

In the late 1970s the land was divided off from The Australian with the construction of Southern Cross Drive and for many years, while it fell under the jurisdiction of Randwick Council, it was closed to the public and only used by local children getting away from their parents, building tree houses in the dense scrub that had developed as a result of neglect.

Today under the control of the City of Sydney Council, it is one of the few parks in the eastern suburbs of Sydney where you can walk your dog off-leash.

So bring your Geopuppies, your GPS and a pen for this small cache.

Good luck!
