Geocache Description:

LT:
Joniškio Švč. Mergelės Marijos ėmimo į dangų bažnyčią galima laikyti ilgaamžiu miesto istorijos simboliu. Bažnyčios istorija prasidėjo 1526 m., kai Vilniaus vyskupo Jono iniciatyva buvo apkrikštyta apgyvendinta teritorija, pastatyta pirmoji Romos katalikų bažnyčia ir įsteigta parapija. Perstatyta keletą kartų 1901 m. bažnyčia įgijo dabartinį vaizdą ir laiptuotą kryžiaus formos planą. Joniškio bažnyčios fasadas atspindi daugelio architektūros stilių bruožus ir juos vienydamas sukuria eklektinį architektūros stilių. Eklektinio stiliaus bažnyčios viduje vyrauja neoklasicizmo, išorėje neorenesanso formos bei komponavimo principai. Orderinė kompozicija papildyta viduramžių architektūros elementais.
