Geocache Description:

This two-part geocache will lead you to a world-renowned structure that is listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. You will be introduced to the building and it’s environs on this “hide”.

Celebrating its 50th year since dedication in 1953, this edifice is only one of seven of it’s kind in the world. It took over 40 years to complete and the design and ornamentation are integral to its purpose. UPDATE 2020: since this cache was placed in 2003 there are three new Temples... this should be called One of Only Ten! Please enjoy your visit, both inside and out, and take time to wander about the grounds. As the sun moves daily across the sky and in each passing season, the view of this structure is ever changing. Sunrise is particularly spectacular as the sun washes the façade from the top of the dome down towards the gardens. Visiting hours are from 10am to 5pm from October 1st to April 30th and 10am to 10 pm from May 1st to September 30th and there is no charge for admission. To complete this cache, you’ll have to register in the logbook, which is located in the cache container, a short walk away. The coordinates above will lead you to one entrance to this property with an eye-filling view. COUNT the number of stairs(include each 'elevation change' i.e. stair or landing) from sidewalk level to the “front door" where you’re welcome to enter. ADD that number to the last three digits of the North coordinate 42° 04.479. Then COUNT the number of sides of the building. Multiply that number by 100 and SUBTRACT that number from the last three digits of the West coordinate 87° 41.969. Hence, the cache is located at N 42° 04.479 PLUS the number of stairs, W 87° 41.969 MINUS 100 times the number of sides of the building. This is a favorite angle to watch the sunrise and occasionally you may see deer here. It is accessible to the public without entering private property and its location should be environmentally friendly. Please be very considerate of the area and especially the gardens. The micro has room for only pencils and a logbook.
