Geocache Description:

Third annual New York Capital Region Geocachers Picnic

September 24 and 25 2005

Moreau Lake State Park

Come join us for two fun filled days of fun, games and camping.  You can come for a couple hours have some fun and meet a few new friends.  Or you can come for a couple of days have some fun and meet a whole bunch of new friends.  Either way you will go away with some great memories and many new friendships.

Moreau Lake State Park is one of the capital region's premier parks and the Palmertown Range is one of the best kept secrets in the Northeast.  Moreau Park has been named one of the top 100 campgrounds in the nation.  Palmertown Range has some of the best hiking and mountain biking trails south of the Adirondacks and yes its located in Moreau Lake State Park.  What a playground for big kids.

There will be gps games for both young and old.  Moreau Park already has a few caches and more will be placed by event time along with a few temporary caches.  I'm not making any promises but rumor has it there will be a couple night caches too so bring your headlights.  There is a playground for the junior geocachers only a few feet from the pavilion.  When you arrive please go to the registration table and register for the door prize drawing for that day, there will be one each day.

We’ll have a travel bug table set up so log any travel bugs you want to bring into this cache page.

Lunch on Saturday and Sunday will be potluck so everyone please bring a plate to share.  Check this list to see what others are bringing and what may still be needed.

Camping is available on the grounds and reservations can be made through Reserve America.  Some of us are setting up in loop F&G if you would like to group up there will be a list of campsites here.  There will be a bonfire gathering on Friday and Saturday evenings, with or without the moon.

Directions: Traveling either North or South on I-87 (Northway) get off exit 17S (Route 9 South).  Only a few hundred feet depending on which direction you were traveling, take the first right onto Old Saratoga Road.  From here go 3/4 mile and turn right into Moreau Lake State Park.
