Geocache Description:

The Fourth Annual Scottish Cache Bash will take place on the Bank Holiday weekend of 27th, 28th & 29th May 2006. It will be centred around the lovely village of Gifford in East Lothian. I hope you will enjoy your visit to this beautiful region and understand why it is the home habitat for marmals!

From 10am onwards on the 27th of May there will be someone onsite to welcome you to the event. There is plenty of parking in the vicinity as well as a large picnic/play area for those not desperately seeking Tupperware to sit back and soak up the sun. But if the weather does take a turn for the worse Haddington is just a few miles up the road.

There are already caches in the area and new permanent ones will be placed to coincide with the event. There will also be fun activities on the weekend itself, but these will not be loggable, however photographic records are likely to be taken so be warned!

There is hotel accommodation in Gifford such as The Goblin Ha’ (01620 810244) and The Tweeddale Arms (01620 810240). And you can gat a nosebag here too. For those that will be camping or caravanning I’d suggest the Monks Muir in Haddington (01620 861837) as being the nearest site. If you want to stay elsewhere in the region have a look at www.visitscotland.com to give you some ideas.

As for the caches themselves, there will be a goodly variety to give something for everyone, I hope. OS Landranger Maps 66 & 67 cover the East Lothian region, with Explorer series nos. 345 & 351 giving enough detail for the caches surrounding the event itself. If anything gets placed outwith the Explorer maps, I will have sufficient details with me, if you need them.

A bumper box of goodies will be present, so bring some good stuff for swapping! Travel Bugs – and Geocoins (that means you Graham!) – are most welcome also.

I think that’s just about everything, but if I’ve missed something or you want more information please let me know. I look forward to seeing you all! And to giving Haggis Hunter another lift somewhere!!
